Some time ago you spoke of so-called functional foods, a natural foods in which some of its components has been improved or enhanced, or deleted.
In fact, we know the types of functional foods available today, and that today we can find on the market.
But today we discuss those functional foods for children specially developed and designed to provide vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed for proper development.
Functional foods for children
Surely, at any given time, your pediatrician will be spoken of so-called functional foods. As you briefly on the lines we discussed above, these foods are natural products, or one of its components have been upgraded or removed, or has been chemically enhanced or improved. At present, we can find on the market with a variety of functional products suitable for children.
For example, prebiotic foods help them make a proper digestion and your digestive system to function properly. This is because they contain oligosaccharides which act as prebiotic agents and are resistant to digestion, so go unchanged into the colon, where they are fermented by the microflora.
You can also choose probiotics that contain live microorganisms, ingested at a recommended amount and appropriate, are very beneficial to health. The same goes for the food referred to as bifidogenic, which promote the development of beneficial intestinal flora.
In regard to the specific functional products that can be found in the market for the kids, look for yogurts fortified with calcium and vitamins, fortified fruit juices, cookies rich in fiber and vitamins, and calcium-fortified cereals, fiber and vitamins, to name just a few examples.
