Baby’s Eyes

First eye exam took place in a room with children newly born. Pediatricians follow up tests to check for infections or structural problems with the eyes: eyelid defects, cataracts, , or other abnormalities. When babies aged 6 months, your doctor should check your baby’s eyes and the alignment of visual fixation (how to focus your view).
Your child’s doctor can treat eye problems such as a single bloodshot eyes (conjunctivitis). If you or your doctor believe that your baby has a serious eye problems, which may require medical or surgical treatment, the infant should be referred to an ophthalmologist. No child is too young for a thorough eye examination.
